How did I get here?

My career evolved from a receptionist in the 80′s, to a word processor and a network administrator in the 90′s, and finally as an information technology specialist before leaving my last job in 2005. After my husband received military orders to North Carolina, moving from California was definitely a culture shock – especially when it came to jobs and pay. I figured I’d try working from home and starting at at-home virtual assistant business seemed a natural fit because supporting someone from behind the scenes is what I loved to do.

When I started my virtual assistant business, I was like so many other VAs. I didn’t know that I was supposed to market my business in order to attract clients. I didn’t know how to optimize my website for the search engines. Heck I didn’t even know what a “keyword” was.

I started reading books, attending workshops, buying training programs, listening to teleseminars (tons of them!) and learned what I could. There came a point in which I had enough knowledge that I could teach a lot of the information I was coming across, so I wrote my first e-book, “E-Marketing Essentials for Virtual Assistants.”

Trust me, once I figured out how to market my business the right way, things became so much easier. I stopped spinning my wheels trying to drum up clients month after month. I learned how to automate many of my systems, saving me tons of time. And when I decided to start adding products and programs to my repertoire, it was much easier to market to a targeted list of subscribers than trying to market to the masses.

After working successfully as a virtual assistant for over five years, I now partner with 7-figure clients as a certified online business manager.  I still work with virtual assistants as a team manager and conduct training programs throughout the year.

My goal for “VA Marketing Coach” is to share what I know so that you can get more clients, find clients or attract new clients, and show you that it is indeed possible to make a living working from home and doing what you love. I am not saying that success will come easy because it is by no means easy to start a business from nothing more than an idea, a computer, and mad skills. I credit my success to hard work and taking action, and I’d love to help you live YOUR dream life.

To your marketing success,
Lisa Wells
